Mösliweg housing development, Köniz

The Urban façade tile creates a surprisingly fresh design with a modern yet timeless look. The durable ceramic façade is also very easy to install and fully recyclable.

Three apartment buildings dating from the early 1980s in the Buchsee district of Köniz are gradually being completely renovated and extended. With the addition of new attic flats, the buildings will ultimately contain 51 rental apartments. The client strongly believes in the importance of ecological and energy-related aspects of construction. The homes are therefore being fitted with contemporary thermal insulation and are being clad with a curtain wall façade of clay bricks reminiscent of the former exposed stone façade. These bricks are actually Urban tiles, manufactured in Laufen. The architects first discovered the Urban at Krøyers Plads in Copenhagen and were instantly impressed by them. The roof of the Mösliweg development is also covered with the Urban so that the ceramic skin runs parallel to the ridge across the entire building.
