Two profiles, two surfaces, four colours

Urban L, U

Rugged surface

The surface of the extruded clay column is roughened in an irregular pattern by a special round brush. This gives the façade a dynamic finish, while highlighting the natural look and feel of the building material.

Sub-structure for Urban L and U

Both profiles can be bolted onto traditional support battens made from wood or aluminium. The U-shaped profile creates the impression of a greater material thickness and enhances the shadow edges where the elements overlap. In this system, every cladding tile is fixed in place with two bolts. The batten spacing can be individually configured.

Urban T

Brushed surface

After the extrusion stage, a brush is run uniformly along the surface of the tile, giving it a fine texture. This results in a smoother surface than the 'rugged' method for a façade with a more understated finish.

Sub-structure for Urban T

The sub-structure for the T profile consists of a multi-functional supporting profile made from aluminium and clamps made of stainless steel. The integrated clamp secures the tile by holding it down from above. The cladding tiles can be easily inserted into the supporting profiles without any tools, and can even be replaced individually if needed. The supporting profile itself remains invisible, is resistant to weathering and is up to three times quicker to install than conventional bolted connections.

Colours

The Urban cladding tiles are available in four different shades, which are created by mixing the tiles with varying quantities of iron oxide or manganese oxide. The more pigment added, the darker the final shade. Since the tile is tinted all the way through, the colour is visible not just at cut faces and joints, but also in the small cracks on the roughened surface. The complex colour appearance that can be seen on the finished product is created through the interplay with the engobe film that is applied to the face of the tile.
